Finding Sanctuary at House of Goshen

There are moments in a hospice journey when home, no matter how familiar or comforting, simply can’t provide the level of medical support a loved one needs. Pain can become overwhelming, as symptoms spiral beyond what even the most dedicated caregiver can manage alone.

House of Goshen was created for these moments—when families need more than home care can offer, but deserve far more than a sterile hospital room. We believe end-of-life care should never force you to choose between clinical excellence and a peaceful, dignified environment.

Here, you receive both.

What is Inpatient Hospice Care?

Inpatient hospice care provides 24/7 medical supervision for patients experiencing severe symptoms that can’t be managed at home. Unlike hospital care, which focuses on curing illness, inpatient hospice focuses entirely on comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

Some patients need inpatient care for just a few days while symptoms stabilize. Others stay longer, finding peace in an environment designed specifically for this sacred time. Either way, the goal remains the same: ensuring your loved one is comfortable, cared for, and surrounded by compassion.

When Families Turn to House of Goshen

You might consider inpatient hospice care when:

  • Pain or nausea becomes uncontrollable despite medication adjustments
  • Breathing difficulties cause severe distress
  • Your loved one experiences extreme agitation or restlessness
  • Wound care requires specialized, frequent attention
  • You’re exhausted as a caregiver and need rest to continue supporting your family
  • The home environment feels unsafe or inadequate for the level of care needed

“Families often hesitate to request inpatient care because they feel like they’re giving up,” says Nadira, our Director of Psychosocial Services. “But choosing a place like House of Goshen isn’t about giving up—it’s about giving your loved one exactly what they need”

A Sanctuary, Not a Hospital

House of Goshen is different from most inpatient units. We’re a 14-bedroom dedicated hospice facility in Flossmoor, Illinois, designed from the ground up to feel like home, not a medical institution.

What makes House of Goshen special:

Private, Peaceful Suites
Each of our 14 private rooms is spacious, serene, and designed for family connection. There are no strict visiting hours here—families can be present 24/7.

24/7 Expert Care
Our clinical team—physicians, nurses, hospice aides, and therapists—provide round-the-clock medical care. When symptoms arise, we respond immediately with expertise.

Holistic, Faith-Centered Approach
Medical care is essential, but it’s not everything. Our chaplains provide spiritual support tailored to your loved one’s faith or personal beliefs. Our music therapists bring comfort through song. Our social workers walk alongside families through difficult decisions and grief.

We care for the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

A Place Designed for Peace
Natural light fills our rooms. Quiet spaces invite reflection. Our chapel offers a place for prayer and contemplation. Every detail—from the colors on the walls to the gardens outside—was chosen to create an atmosphere of tranquility and grace.

“House of Goshen was created to be a sanctuary” says Hakeem Bello, CEO. “Families don’t just receive excellent care—they experience refuge.”

Clinical Excellence You Can Trust

House of Goshen holds CHAP accreditation, the gold standard in hospice quality, and partners with University of Chicago Medical to ensure the highest standards of clinical care. We also specialize in veteran services, with a dedicated veteran room and personalized support for those who served.

But our credentials only tell part of the story. What matters most is how families feel when they walk through our doors: seen, supported, and no longer alone.

Seamless Partnership with Oasis Hospice

House of Goshen works hand-in-hand with Oasis Hospice & Palliative Care to provide a complete continuum of care. If your loved one has been receiving home care from Oasis and symptoms escalate, the transition to House of Goshen is seamless. The same care team—nurses, social workers, chaplains—continues coordinating care, ensuring familiarity and continuity during a difficult time.

When symptoms stabilize, your loved one can return home to resume routine hospice care with us, knowing the same compassionate professionals will continue supporting them.

This partnership means families never feel abandoned or shuffled between providers. Whether at home or at House of Goshen, you’re cared for by people who know your story, understand your needs, and honor your journey.

What Families Experience Here

When your loved one arrives at House of Goshen, our team immediately assesses their symptoms and creates a personalized care plan focused on comfort and dignity. Daily care includes pain and symptom management, assistance with personal needs, nutritional support, and access to music therapy, spiritual care, and counseling.

Families are invited to participate in care as much or as little as they wish. Some stay by their loved one’s side constantly. Others find relief in knowing expert hands are providing care.

There’s no right or wrong way to be present. We support you however you need.
